Desert Harvest Studies Using Aloe Vera To Treat Interstitial Cystitis. CEO Heather Florio first discovered the connection between IC and aloe vera and fills us in. Upwards of 8 million women suffer from interstitial cystitis (IC), a chronic bladder condition that can be extremely painful and debilitating and is typically treated with one prescription medication that not only provides little relief to many women but also causes hair loss. And since symptoms are similar to a UTI most people’s IC is never diagnosed. A study currently under way at the McGill University Research Center for Cannabis is examining that question for the treatment of interstitial cystitis (IC). The focus of the study is the first product that combines an aloe vera product clinically proven to relieve IC symptoms with CBD to increase absorption of the aloe vera capsules in the bloodstream. Early results show the product, developed by nutritional supplement company Desert Harvest, yields significant reduction in pain symptoms – suggesting an impact on multiple sites along the pain transmission pathway. This product will be the second from Desert Harvest that has been clinically proven to reduce bladder pain. Desert Harvest CEO, Heather Florio first discovered the connection between IC and aloe vera in an effort to help a relative suffering from the condition, and women who have successfully used aloe vera capsules to treat their IC.
