Richard Delisi: Serving life for cannabis with Ashley Delisi. In December 1989, Richard DeLisi was sentenced to a total of 98 years in prison for trafficking cannabis as part of a RICO case. Richard was caught as part of a reverse-sting/entrapment operation for trafficking cannabis into the State of Florida. Richard and his brother Theodore were both charged for cannabis trafficking - his brother served 24 years in total and was released in 2013. This case was based on intelligence from an informant for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement who was cooperating due to impending firearms and cocaine charges. Ashley Delisi is the daughter of Richard Delisi. Ashely has been fighting to get her father released with every last breath. The toll Delisi’s incarceration has had on his family is immeasurable including the death of his wife and his son from pill overdoses. Ashley herself has suffered from depression and anxiety disorder and multiple other health issues due to the loss of her father. She wants to get to know her father. Ashley wants to help him rebuild his life one step at a time. “My dad doesn't even know how to use a cell phone. I will teach him,” she said. Today Vivian speaks with Delisi about the case and how you can help release Richard Delisi from this ridiculous sentence.
